ECO4 – What it Means for Customers

For this week’s blog we at EnergySmart wanted to explain the new ECO4 scheme and the benefits provided to customers.

The previous scheme, ECO3, ran from the 3rd December 2018 to 31st March 2022. The new ECO4 has now replaced the ECO3 scheme and is intended to run from the 1st April 2022 until 31st March 2026. The key objective of ECO4 is to improve the least energy efficient properties within the UK and Wales which are occupied by those on the lowest income and those most vulnerable. As well as this, the scheme also aims to decrease ever increasing carbon emissions.

The most important change to note from ECO3 to ECO4 is the ‘whole house approach’ which emphasises the importance of making the entire property more energy efficient. This is great news for our customers as it means that your entire home can potentially be fitted with a wide variety of energy saving measures ranging from solar panels to heat pumps as opposed to just insulating the property. Over the past 12 months, the team here at EnergySmart have been working hard to ensure that we can provide our customers with all the available energy saving measures. We are extremely proud to say that as a business we can deliver all aspects of ECO4, ensuring that your entire property is as energy efficient as possible.

With the current cost of living crisis continuing throughout the nation, particularly with the significant rises in energy bills, we at EnergySmart have been determined to ensure we can deliver the ECO4 scheme to customers across the whole of the UK.

ECO4 is a Government backed scheme whereby gas and electricity suppliers such as British Gas and Eon are all obliged to help the households outlined above with funding for energy efficiency measures that will ultimately reduce energy bills. These measures include:

  1. Room in roof insulation
  2. Loft insulation
  3. Solid wall insulation
  4. Storage heater upgrades
  5. Under floor insulation
  6. Solar panels
  7. Boiler upgrades
  8. Airsource heat pumps

Having free energy efficiency measures fitted in your property will help you reduce those ever increasing energy bills, reduce carbon emissions and best of all, these measures are fitted completely free of charge!
