EnergySmart 2023 Annual Round Up

2023-annual-round-up

As we say goodbye to 2023, it’s with immense pride and excitement that we reflect on the incredible developments EnergySmart has made over the past year. From growing landlord partnerships to creating a new customer service department, this roundup encapsulates the most significant achievements and transformative changes that have positioned us as one of the leading Energy Company Obligation installers.

Internal Upskilling: Bringing it All In-House

In 2023, EnergySmart underwent a monumental shift by massively up-skilling our internal resources. No longer reliant on external partners, all installations are now conducted in-house. This strategic move not only enhances our control over project timelines but also ensures a consistent and top-tier quality across every installation. A significant part of achieving this was based upon our fully accredited MCS & GAS SAFE status to deliver gas, solar and air source heat pump installations.

Increased Productivity: 317 Projects Completed

In 2023, EnergySmart reached new heights by successfully completing 317 projects. Each project represents a home transformed into an energy-efficient property, contributing to our overarching mission of creating sustainable living spaces. This also contributes to one of our business goals of reducing fuel poverty throughout the UK. We are also proud to report that our average annual bill saving (ABS) per property was £2,112.

Expanding Horizons: Securing Landlord Partnerships

EnergySmart’s commitment to innovation and adaptability was key in securing new large-scale landlord partnerships, including multiple estates. This required us to evolve our operational strategies to efficiently deliver large-scale projects, showcasing our ability to adapt and excel in diverse environments. EnergySmart understands that achieving substantial change requires synergy and collaboration, and in an effort to reduce fuel poverty at a larger scale, partnerships have been formed with numerous landlords across the country. This achieves two things: one, a higher volume of properties are being treated under a single contract. Two, landlords are ahead of the game in meeting Government enforcement of minimum energy efficiency requirements, whereby tenanted properties must achieve an energy efficiency of C or above by 2028.

Thriving Team: Over 60% Net Increase in Personnel

Human resource and company culture has been a huge focus over the last twelve months. Our exponential growth is mirrored by our dynamic, growing team. With a net increase of over 60% in personnel, EnergySmart has cultivated a company culture and workforce that is not only skilled but passionate about driving our mission forward.

Elevating Experiences: The Birth of Customer Service Department

This year marked the launch of EnergySmart’s new and improved Customer Service Department. This strategic move has resulted in a tangible increase in customer satisfaction metrics, as evidenced by our Net Promoter Score and our Trustpilot reviews. We are committed to not only meeting but exceeding customer expectations. The new customer liaison manager and their team manage all customer enquiries, ensuring customers requests are dealt with and resolved in a timely manner.

Community Connection: Empowering Locals Through Energy Advice

EnergySmart extended its reach into local communities by setting up popup stalls in shopping centres. Our energy-saving experts provided free invaluable advice to the public on reducing energy bills. This initiative aligns with our dedication to not just transform homes but also to empower communities. Managing Director Harvey Mason stated “As a business, we always strive to serve the interests of the local community, whether it be through reducing fuel poverty, offering free expert energy saving advice or job creation. The popup stalls are a great initiative which gives members of the local community the opportunity to get free energy saving advice as well as apply for a free grant through us. We look forward to continuing to serve the local community in 2024.”

Financial Triumph: Over 220% Increase in Turnover

EnergySmart’s commitment to excellence and innovation is reflected in our financial success. We achieved a remarkable 220% increase in turnover from 2022 to 2023, a testament to our industry leadership and the trust our clients place in us.

Expansion: Welcoming a New Unit and an Increased Fleet

With growth comes the need for more space. EnergySmart took on an additional unit to facilitate our expansion, providing the necessary space for extra equipment and materials. This move positions us for even greater strides in the coming years. As well as new premises, EnergySmart also invested in a new fleet of vans.

Whole-House Approach: Aligning with ECO4 Standards

EnergySmart proudly completed the transition to delivering the whole-house approach mandated by ECO4. This strategic move ensures that our installations align seamlessly with the latest industry standards, reaffirming our commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

CEO John Hetherington stated “In terms of progression, 2023 has been our most transformative year yet, making us a leader within the UK ECO sector. The creation and management of our new processes, systems, departments and new staff members have been vital in ensuring we have fully adapted to delivering the ECO4 scheme to the highest standards possible. We have more plans in place to continue our rapid expansion going into 2024 and look forward to our continued business growth.”

As we embark on a new year, EnergySmart remains dedicated to transforming homes, empowering communities, and leading the charge towards a more sustainable future. Our achievements in 2023 are just the beginning of an exciting journey, and we look forward to continued growth, innovation, and positive impact in the years to come.
